A network of local footpaths provide enjoyable walks inland and along the coast, including the walk to Dunstanburgh Castle, regarded as one of the best coastal walks in the country.
Surrounded by unspoilt countryside, with Howick Gardens & Arboretum close by, Craster is ideal for those who enjoy peace and quiet and being out and about. There is much to interest everyone including, walkers, birdwatchers, artists and photographers. Fishing trips leave from the harbour and there are several superb golf courses nearby. Craster provides an excellent base for visitors to Northumberland, with Alnwick Castle and Garden, Howick Garden, Alnmouth, Seahouses, the Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island all close at hand.
Our ‘local’, the Jolly Fisherman, now under new ownership, and the Craster Fish Restaurant, set in the old kipper smokehouse buildings, serve excellent lunches and evening meals. The Shoreline Cafe, next to Mick Oxley's art gallery in the centre of the village, offers refreshments throughout the day. Craster is well served by pubs in neighbouring villages offering high quality meals .
