We respond to emails very quickly, so if you don't hear from us promptly it may be because your email didn't arrive for some reason, so please give us a ring if you think that may have happened.

Again for reasons connected with the reliability of emails, when you email us, please include your phone number or address to ensure that we can get in touch with you.

Prices for 2010 ( including breakfast):

Guests who have visited us before will realise that we have raised some, but not all of our prices. This represents our first price increase since 2007 and reflects our rising costs.

We have two rooms, a double and a twin. Both rooms are ensuite and are charged at the same rate.

Booking Conditions and Information

Advance Bookings

Please note that for advance bookings a minimum booking of 2 nights is usually required, however we do occasionally have single nights available.

Deposits

The deposit required for each room booked is calculated on the basis of £25 deposit per room for each night the room is required. Deposits should be paid by cheque within five working days of the provisional booking being made. All bookings are provisional until the payment of a deposit has been confirmed by us. If we have not received the payment within this time scale and you do not contact us to make alternative arrangements, we will feel free to accept other bookings for the room.

Cancellation of Bookings

A booking may be cancelled up to fourteen days prior to its commencement and we will refund your deposit in full. If a cancellation is made within fourteen days of the commencement of your stay, the deposit is non-refundable. In the event of a cancellation less than seven days prior, the full cost of the booking is payable. However, we will seek every opportunity to re-let the room and to the extent that we are successful we would offset this charge in full or on a pro rata basis reflecting our success in re-letting the room.

In the unlikely event of us having to cancel a booking, we would of course refund all monies paid.

Methods of Payment

In common with many small establishments we do not have the facilities to receive payment by debit or credit card. Payment may be made by cash or cheque. In the case of the latter, cheques are acceptable up to the cheque card’s guaranteed limit.

There is a cash machine in the village pub in Craster, a branch of Barclays with a cash machine in Seahouses and a range of banks in Alnwick.

Room Occupancy and Children

We regret that we canot accommodate children under the age of 16. We do not have a ‘family’ room; our rooms are set up as a ‘double’ or a ‘twin’, with a maximum occupancy of two adults per room.

Pets

We are sorry, but we do not accommodate pets.

Arrival and Departure

Your accommodation will be available to you from 5.00pm on the day of arrival. We are always available to greet guests between 5.00 and 6.00pm. If you wish to arrive later than this, please contact us to make arrangements with us.

We would be grateful if, on the day of departure, you would vacate your room by 10.00am on weekdays and 10.30am at weekends and Bank Holidays so that we can prepare it for our next guests.

Breakfast

Our breakfast is designed to give you a hearty start to the day and is included in the daily room rate. We seek to use local/organic/fair-trade produce whenever possible.

If you have any special dietary requirement, please explain them to us and we will endeavour to meet your needs. This is particularly important for those guests on a diet related to a medical condition, for example those at risk of anaphylactic shock cause by nut allergy. In such cases we may require written advice defining which foods are safe. However, in the context of a domestic kitchen, we cannot guarantee a 'nut free' environment.

Evening Meals

We do not provide evening meals; however there are range of local restaurants and pubs serving food in the area.

Smoking

Bed and Breakfast accommodation is covered by the law on smoking in enclosed public places; smoking on our premises is illegal. However, Harbour Lights is a non-smoking home and it is a condition of your stay with us that you do not smoke anywhere in the house or garden.

Guests who smoke on the premises will be asked to leave immediately and would be liable to the full cost of their stay up to the time of departure, plus an excess of £100 to cover the cost of additional cleaning.

Accidents and Damage

Accidents do happen and guests would not normally be expected to meet the cost of minor damage arising from everyday mishaps. However, you should be aware that guests are liable for any breakages or damages, which they cause to the accommodation or its contents. At the discretion of the owners, where damage is significant, we would expect guests to meet the full cost of repair and/or replacement.

Behaviour of Guests

Harbour Lights is our home and we wish guests to feel ‘at home’. It is the responsibility of all guests to ensure that their behaviour does not spoil the enjoyment of others. If, in our judgement, guests behave unreasonably, we reserve the right to terminate their booking with immediate effect. In these circumstances, guests would be liable to the full cost of their stay up to the time of departure

Liability

We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless caused by negligence on our part.

Privacy Policy

Any data collected during the course of this booking may be stored on our computer. We will not share your details with any third party whatsoever...

Disability

We are committed to meeting the needs of guests with any special access requirements. Please explain at the time of booking and we will be happy to do our best to overcome any difficulties.

For your information, guest accommodation at Harbour Lights is on the first floor and there is a step at the front door. Both rooms include an ensuite equipped with W.C., basin and shower. For further details, have a look at our Access Statement.
