For parties of three, the two people sharing a room are charged at the normal daily rate. The guest occupying a room by themself is charged at the normal daily rate for single occupancy, for a one night stay, but for a stay of two days or more, this rate is reduced by a discount of £5 per night. |
Please note that for advance bookings a minimum booking of 2 nights is usually required, however we do occasionally have single nights available, which are shown coloured blue on our availability page .
If you would like to stay for a single night in the near future and the date is available, please give us a ring and we will do our best to accommodate you.
We try to respond to emails very quickly, so if you don't hear from us promptly it may be because your email didn't arrive for some reason, so please give us a ring if you think that may have happened.
Again for reasons connected with the reliability of emails, when you email us, please include your phone number or address to ensure that we can get in touch with you.

The deposit required for each room booked is calculated on the basis of £25 deposit per room for each night the room is reserved. Deposits should be paid by cheque within five working days of the provisional booking being made. All bookings are provisional until the payment of a deposit has been confirmed by us. If we have not received the payment within this time scale and you do not contact us to make alternative arrangements, we will seek to get in touch to determine whether you wish to go ahead with the booking. At this point we will feel free to accept other bookings for the room.
On receipt of your deposit we will send a letter of confirmation, detailing your booking.
Our full terms and conditions are published on our website, but we would like you to be aware of our cancellation policy. In the event of a cancellation, the deposit is non-refundable. If notice of cancellation is given less than seven days before the commencement of the booking, the outstanding balance is also payable. However, we will seek every opportunity to re-book the room and to the extent that we are successful we would reduce the balance owing on a pro-rata basis. If the booking is re-let in full, there will of course be no balance owing and we will also refund the deposit.
In the unlikely event of us having to cancel a booking, we would of course refund all monies paid and do our best to find you alternative accommodation in the area.
In common with many small establishments we do not have the facilities to receive payment by debit or credit card. Payment may be made by cash or cheque. In the case of the latter, cheques are acceptable up to the cheque card’s guaranteed limit.
There is a cash machine in the village pub in Craster, a branch of Barclays with a cash machine in Seahouses and a range of banks in Alnwick.
We regret that we do not accommodate children under the age of 16. We do not have a ‘family’ room; our rooms are set up as a ‘double’ or a ‘twin’, with a maximum occupancy of two adults per room.
We are sorry, but we do not accommodate pets.
During the months, May to August inclusive, your room will be available from 5.00pm on the day of arrival. In February, March & April and October & November it will be available from 4.00pm.
During your stay you are very welcome to come and go as you wish, but we do ask guests to make the room available for servicing after breakfast.
We would be grateful if, on the day of departure, you would vacate your room by 10.00am on weekdays and 10.30am at weekends and Bank Holidays so that we can prepare it for our next guests.
Our breakfast is designed to give you a hearty start to the day and is included in the daily room rate. We seek to use local/organic/fair-trade produce whenever possible. More about breakfast and Menu
If you have any special dietary requirement, please explain them to us and we will endeavour to meet your needs. This is particularly important for those guests on a diet related to a medical condition. In such cases we may require written advice defining which foods are safe.
We do not provide evening meals; however there are range of local restaurants and pubs serving food in the area. We maintain a collection of menus and are happy to make recommendations to guests.
Bed and Breakfast accommodation is covered by the law on smoking in enclosed public places; smoking on our premises is illegal. However, Harbour Lights is a non-smoking home and it is a condition of your stay with us that you do not smoke anywhere in the house or garden.
Accidents do happen and guests would not normally be expected to meet the cost of minor damage arising from everyday mishaps. However, you should be aware that guests are liable for any breakages or damages, which they cause to the accommodation or its contents. At the discretion of the owners, where damage is significant, we would expect guests to meet the full cost of repair and/or replacement.
Harbour Lights is our home and we wish guests to feel ‘at home’. It is the responsibility of all guests to ensure that their behaviour does not spoil the enjoyment of others. If, in our judgement, guests behave unreasonably, we reserve the right to terminate their booking with immediate effect. In these circumstances, guests would be liable to the full cost of their stay up to the time of departure.
We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless caused by negligence on our part.
